Walker Hayes‘ wife Laney is setting the record straight after the, ahem, slightly-risqué song teaser video he posted earlier this week.
Hayes shared a snippet of a new song called “5 to 9,” an answer to Dolly Parton‘s “9 to 5” that focuses on after-work-hours fun with a spouse.
The visual he chose to tease the song was a little spicy, too: Hayes is in the middle of a workout when he gets a text from Laney asking if he wants to take a shower, and he drops everything to rush off to join her, ending with a scene of the family’s tour bus rocking.
In the comments section, fans wondered whether Laney — who’s typically a pretty wholesome figure — gave the video treatment the green light.
“The fact that I can’t imagine Laney being naughty,” one person writes on Instagram.
“Does Laney know you posted this?” another wonders.
Not only did Laney know about the video, but she helped pull off the bus-rocking stunt herself — and not in the way some fans might imagine. Hayes shared a second video of Laney explaining her thoughts on the video, and sharing some of the behind-the-scenes of how it all went down.
“I feel like on the video we posted the other day a lot of people were like, ‘I can’t imagine Laney being on board with this post,'” Hayes says, as his wife laughs in response.
“Oh, we all were on board making that video. It was super fun,” she replies.
“I think it’s a positive message. I mean, we’re married,” she goes on to say, also offering her rave review of Hayes’ new song. “I think the song’s a total smash. Like, bigger than ‘Fancy Like,’ smash.”
Though the finished product might look a little salacious, Laney says that filming it was good old family fun.
“The part that you didn’t see is the whole family, us and the kids, standing outside the bus,” she recounts. “[Son] Chapel getting us in the rhythm trying to adequately …”
“Shake the bus,” Hayes adds.
Hayes will release “5 to 9” on Oct. 11.
Walker Hayes has found a buyer for the luxurious home where he and his family launched the viral “Fancy Like” video that revitalized his career, and pictures of the 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom, 3,057-square-foot residence show an upscale, but very cozy home that’s perfect for a family.
